Guiding a research programme as a guide is entirely different from prosecuting a research problem as a research scholar. Guiding is an onerous task. Research is a process of upgrading one’s personality. A guide must essentially be a Mentor.
Mentoring is a holistic application of the skills for all-around capacity building. The guide leads the scholar to the unknown realm of knowledge in the subject chosen for research. The guide shows the way, and the scholar travels along it. A research guide is a knight-at-arms, and a scholar is a Page under him, pursuing knighthood in Juristic skills.
